O-line could shuffle again

Here's the football notebook that ran in our paper today. Since we've had some online technical difficulties, I'm posting the notebook here in the blog.

Georgia has used four different starting combinations on its offensive line this season.
The fifth could be on the way.
Junior Clint Boling said Thursday that offensive line coach Stacy Searels could be making more changes for the Oct. 31 game against Florida.
Boling lined up at first-team left tackle in the portion of Thursday’s practice open to the media. Cordy Glenn was at left guard with Ben Jones at center, Chris Davis at right guard and Vince Vance at right tackle.
“He might be considering moving things around a little bit, just so he can get a lineup out there that he likes,” Boling said. “I’m not really sure what he has in mind.”

Ellerbe might not play but at least he can talk

Linebacker Dannell Ellerbe says he’s got better than a 50-50 chance to play Saturday.

Coach Mark Richt didn’t sound as optimistic on his radio show on Monday night.

“It would have to take some big turnaround for him to get into position to at least practice to be ready,” Richt said.

Ellerbe hasn’t practiced since spraining his left MCL early against Alabama.

“The training room wants what’s best for me, but at the end of the day it’s how
I feel,” Ellerbe said. “I’m going to have to do a test, but if I pass a test and I’m able to play, I’m going to play.”

Ellerbe said that test would be to get through some drills at practice. He said he won’t play on special teams no matter what this week.

I’ve got a story in our Tuesday paper and online on Darryl Gamble and Akeem Dent, who will fill in for Ellerbe at middle linebacker if he can’t go.
