Greetings from Sanford Stadium on a steamy Saturday.
Georgia players just broke their team huddle in pregame warm-ups.
Larry Munson is 20 feet away from our press box seats. It’s great to see him back in his place in the radio booth after offseason brain surgery.
Brook Whitmire just announced Georgia as “The No. 1 team in the land,” drawing a roar from those already in the crowd. Looks like linebacker Dannell Ellerbe is wearing No. 44, a tribute to injured middle linebacker Marcus Washington
This game might not be very compelling, but there are intriguing storylines to watch on the Georgia team.
Who will step up at defensive end? Jarius Wynn seems like a good bet given his preseason camp.
I’m interested in seeing how Blair Walsh handles this stage. The freshman from Boca Raton, Fla., was virtually handed the job of replacing kicker Brandon Coutu when he signed.

Georgia Southern senior wide receiver Michael McIntosh is a Florida transfer who has already played the Bulldogs in his hometown of Jacksonville, Fla. He is slated to start Saturday after having 14 catches for 191 yards and two touchdowns last season.
I spoke to him recently by phone about his memories of Georgia-Florida from his two years in the Gators program and his connections still to players from his old team.
Q: Did you go to the Georgia-Florida games when you were on the Gators teams? I think one year you redshirted.
A: I went both years.
Q: Did you play the second year?
A: I didn’t play much. I consider it not playing.
Q: Did you get in the Georgia game?
A: I got in a couple of snaps on offense.
Q: That was 2005. Florida won that one 14-10. Have you kept in touch with anyone from Florida from back in those days?
