They can always be legislators

Apparently, some of the people writing checks to Cobb County legislators Matt Dollar, Judson Hill and Chip Rogers have kids who couldn't get into the University of Georgia or Georgia Tech for the upcoming fall semester.

On Friday, Rep. Dollar, R-East Cobb, dropped a piece of legislation in the House hopper calling for the creation of a House study committee to look into "the admission practices and policies of the University System of Georgia" Also on Friday, state Sens. Judson Hill and Chip Rogers dropped an identical piece of legislation into the Senate hopper, calling for creation of a Senate study committee to probe the same issue.

The resolutions sponsored by the three legislators note that "each year, many ... highly qualified students (from within the state of Georgia) are rejected and denied admission" particularly to the state's flagship universities. The resolutions go on to contend that "admission to Georgia's premier institutions should be based on merit ... ."
