The rumor mill can stop now. Johnny Isakson is not running for governor, president, dog catcher or any other office. He's running for re-election to the Senate.
Isakson will officially kick off his campaign at 11:30 a.m. Monday at the state Capitol. He'll be joined by Gov. Sonny Perdue, Lt. Gov. Casey Cagle, House Speaker Glenn Richardson, state legislators, other supporters, Lil' Jon, the Pittsburg Steelers and the cast of "High School Musical." Just kidding about those last three.
Then Isakson will embark on a two-day tour of the state, with stops scheduled in Augusta, Albany, Columbus, Macon and Savannah. Being part of the Atlanta television market, Athens, as usual, did not make the cut.
He will be talking about the housing market, the economy, energy, water, education and transportation.
I think that about covers it.
