The Perpetual Election continues. John Oxendine is running for governor, and he’s really worried about taxes. Flackery to follow.
Atlanta, GA – Today, American Tax Freedom Day, Georgia's Insurance and Safety Fire Commissioner John Oxendine, filed the necessary paperwork to begin his race for the open gubernatorial seat in 2010.
“Today is American Tax Freedom Day. Taxes are one of the top issues everyone is concerned about whether Democrat, Republican or Independent.
We are all responsible for our own personal budgets and I want the state to be just as fiscally responsible,” said Oxendine.
“As a Georgia taxpayer, I am disappointed the tax breaks we were all promised were not passed by the General Assembly,” said Oxendine. “On April 30, I, as so many of my fellow Georgians do year after year, will be paying the annual “birthday” ad-valorem tax on my automobile.”
“I would hope the Governor and the Legislature could also help the taxpayer by agreeing on the tax breaks which have been proposed.”
Citing dismay with the way vital issues are being addressed at the state capitol, Oxendine, one of the longest serving Republican, state constitutional officers declared he is the only candidate with demonstrated and proven executive level experience to get Georgia back on track.
“As your Insurance Commissioner for the last 14 years, I have been a good steward of the taxpayer’s money. Within my agency, I along with my staff have worked responsibly to manage our budget efficiently, reducing costs, and cutting where possible. As a result we have returned money back to the taxpayers of Georgia consistently every year”.
“As my campaign progresses I will be traveling across the state, walking door-to-door and store-to-store to listen to my fellow Georgians and to discuss my ideas to address their concerns. I am very proud that Georgia’s voters have continued to place their confidence and trust in me as their Commissioner of Insurance. It is my hope that they will give me the opportunity to continue to serve and represent them as Governor,” concluded Oxendine.
