There's no shortage of equal time on YouTube

I think it’s safe to say the Republicans are not huge fans of universal health care.

Rep. Paul Broun, R-Athens, released a video today responding to President Obama’s interview on ABC News that aired Wednesday (I can’t embed ABC video but the link will take you there). The interview had a somewhat cloying air to it – although I am a huge fan of the national media actually explaining the basics for once rather than focusing on inside baseball and analysis – and Broun has now dubbed the network the Administration’s Biggest Cheerleader.

Broun toned down his rhetoric but still hit the point that he believes “ObamaCare” will give too much power to the bureaucrats (and we all know how bad they are). He called for making health-care expensives tax-deductible, a tax credit for doctors who offer free care to the indigent and matching contributions to health savings accounts.

Legislative staffers are writing up Broun’s reform proposal as we speak, according to spokeswoman Pepper Pennington.

In related news, that's a sharp suit Dr. Brown is wearing.

CAPTCHA Failure?

Is Dr. Broun the one responsible for all the spam comments advertising medical billing scams and resume writing, or is there a more sinister plot afoot?

With CAPTCHA words like "bestrid Muntoi-", I can see how people in India or Russia could make a career spamming the comments section...

Persistent

Last month I cleaned out the user list and turned on the 'new users must be approved before posting' feature to cut down on the spam.

It worked but people were getting annoyed at the delay in approving new users.

I turned it off to get more comments flowing and figured if we get spammed once or twice a week I can deal with it. Besides, last I heard they pay the CAPTCHA-readers something like $.10 an hour, so who am I to deprive them of work?

Say what?

Well, if I had my hand on the God button, I'd just kill the links instead of deleting the posts.

Or if I was feeling really perverse, redirect the links to a Bible verse, or Longfellow poem,
